Carolyn Griffin Palmer boasts a diverse array of titles acquired throughout her esteemed career with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), including teacher, award-winning cheerleading, track, and volleyball coach, and principal. A graduate of Jackson State University with a BS in Education, Carolyn holds a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision from Roosevelt University, complemented by postgraduate studies at Governor State University.
Her commitment extends beyond academia, evidenced by her involvement in various organizations. Carolyn serves as President of Retirees in Motion (RIM), contributes to the Democratic Women of the Southland Region, and participates in TRIAD. She is an active member of Victory Apostolic Church and proudly holds life membership in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
Through her foundation, “Carolyn’s Kids,” she has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to elementary and high school graduates. Known as a prominent “Mistress of Ceremonies,” Carolyn lends her expertise to numerous events. Additionally, she contributes as a weekly freelance columnist for several African American news outlets, focusing on events, activities, and the notable figures of the Chicagoland and South Suburban areas.
Adding to her civic engagement, Carolyn serves as a Trustee for the Village of Matteson, Illinois. Her enduring marriage of 53 years to Isaac Lavell Palmer is complemented by her roles as the mother of two daughters, LaCael (Alexander) and Karilyn (Christopher), and the grandmother of four: Alexander Adonis, Xavier Isaac, Kailyn Dior, and Christopher Jacob.
