During the event, Girls Inc. of Chicago will recognize women who are positively impacting communities across Chicagoland, through its She Shines initiative, the organization’s signature leadership recognition program that celebrates Chicago’s female leaders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Honorees include Ashley Novoa, Founder of the Chicago Period Project, Britney Robbins, Founder of The Gray Matter Experience, Ashli Nelson, Director of Government Affairs and National Diversity Outreach, McDonald’s Corporation, and others.

Arshele Stevens, Girls Inc of Chicago’s CEO, notes that the organization created the She Shines award to celebrate and amplify the stories of everyday Chicago women doing extraordinary things to make Chicago a better place to live, work, and play.

During the celebration, hosted by the reigning Miss Chicago Makalyn Heaslett, She Shines Awardees will participate in panel discussions on leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and cultivating the next generation of female leaders. Billboard award-winning DJ First Lady will provide live entertainment.

B-roll opportunities will be available throughout the event from 2:30-5:00pm as honorees participate in panel discussions.
