How has she positively impacted women and/or girls in Chicago?
Having relocated from the Chicago area, Sydney has continued to have an impact in the community. Sydney’s website and the letter writing campaign has proved to be far-reaching. She has received feedback from those in the area thanking her for her support and kindness during such a stressful time. It has been noted that her compassion to help and think of others is beyond noteworthy.
What lessons can girls and/or other women learn from her?
Sydney’s efforts is a lesson plan for other young ladies to know and understand that small works/acts of kindness are far-reaching. Sydney’s acts have resulted in response of “Wow, very few take the time to send hand written notes…” “Her notes came a time when I was feeling lonely and detached from kindness.” The website provided comfort in hitting that button”
About Sydney Grandby
Sydney Granby is a Junior who currently attends Cambridge High School in Milton, Georgia. Prior to moving to Georgia, Sydney resided in the suburbs of Chicago and attended Barrington High School in Barrington, IL. She is a high achieving academic scholar and multi award winning varsity basketball and softball. However, her interests do not stop there. She loves art and music, playing multiple instruments, and most of all, helping others. Her creativity and passion drove her and her younger brother to develop the website TeensTeachingTechnology.com.
Wanting to find ways to help their grandparents stay connected and engaged in technology, they created a resource, to not only post information and tips, but also, for people to ask “how to” questions. At this time, she is focused on continuing to build this endeavor while honing Marketing and Graphic Design skills
