Weeya Baysah Young is an Assistant General Counsel at the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, where she serves as the agency’s lead counsel for procurement and contractual matters to help ensure Illinoisans have access to high-quality health care and fulfill child support obligations to advance their physical, mental, and financial well-being. The National Black Lawyers Association recently selected Ms. Young as a “National Black Lawyer Top 100 in Illinois” membership recipient based on her influence and reputation for providing excellent legal representation. Ms. Young is also an IMPACT Alum with the Chicago Urban League and Booth School of Business, an organization that prepared her to serve as the 2024-2025 President of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. Ms. Young’s theme under her presidency is “BRIGHT.BOLD.BALANCED”, with an emphasis on shaping and supporting bright young minds through mentorship, programming, and scholarships.
