Chicago native Tyler Clark is a visual artist, entrepreneur and founder of Inspire By Tyler. Tyler Clark began her career at United Airlines after completing dual degrees in mathematics and mechanical engineering from Spelman College and the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2020, Clark decided to take a leap of faith and shift her focus from analyst to artist and launched Inspire By Tyler.
Since the launch, Clark has amassed over 115K followers on Instagram to date. The success of her artwork has garnered partnerships with Walmart, Mastercard, BET, and Nordstrom, continuously collaborating on new projects to advance the ever-changing world of art. As a Christian visual artist, Clark has prioritized ensuring that her art empowers Black women and showcases the beauty of Black hair to promote self-love. An essential part of her art includes synthetic hair as well as fabric and jewelry through the use of mixed media paintings.
Clark’s art has captured the attention of many celebs including, Grammy award winners Ms. Lauryn Hill and Chance the Rapper, both who received customized artwork. Additionally, her artwork has been collected by Golden Globe winner, Taraji P. Henson and currently adorns the walls of Art in Motion, a Chicago-based school launched by Grammy award winner, Common. In 2022, Tyler’s artwork was featured on the award winning series “Black-ish” and the critically acclaimed series, “The Chi” in 2021.
Essence magazine called Clark’s work, “a celebration in black beauty,” and currently displays her art in the publication’s headquarters. Her reach has also included TV appearances on several Chicago local news stations, speaking engagements and charitable contributions, most notably her auctioned pieces for the annual Wearable Art Gala founded by Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson.
Popsugar described her artwork in 2020 as, “a love letter to Black women” and in 2023, BET Her and Walmart honored and celebrated her as a Black creative and entrepreneur. Clark plans to continue creating visual art that honors Black women and highlights the beauty of Black hair with a mission driven purpose as she embarks on forthcoming Inspire by Tyler projects.
