Bold Futures for Bold Girls

The Bold Futures for Bold Girls program is an innovative initiative by Girls Inc. of Chicago (GIoC) designed to empower African American and Latinx teens and young adults with the tools and opportunities they need to achieve economic mobility and break intergenerational cycles of poverty. By focusing on closing access and opportunity gaps, the program provides year-round education, training, and resources to help participants achieve their postsecondary career and educational goals.

Rooted in workforce development and STEM education, Bold Futures provides culturally relevant, hands-on programming that spans a wide range of STEM topics, including cosmetic science, coding, astronomy, food science, and more. Participants also benefit from real-world exploration experiences, connecting with industry professionals and gaining insight into career pathways in high-demand fields.

Each quarter, GIoC provides 10 young adults, aged 16-24, with paid employment opportunities. Youth are placed at departments within the organization and with community-based organizations as well. This youth-led and youth-focused partnership provides participants with meaningful employment, leadership development, and the chance to contribute directly to creating positive change in their communities.

Through Bold Futures, GIoC aims to build confidence, inspire leadership, and nurture the next generation of corporate and civic leaders while empowering young people to disrupt inequities and create lasting change across Chicago’s South Side and beyond.
